Our team is updating the staff portraits, and I have been asked to choose two background colors before the photographer arrives. We have time to test this properly before the booking is finalized. The beige backdrop looks pleasant alone but changes the appearance of faces in the proofs. My plan is to review a few printed samples before buying the full backdrop. There is no uniform for the session, and nobody wants to purchase special clothing. I have been reading about personal color analysis yet I cannot tell how directly that applies to a backdrop used by many people. Should we include a neutral reference card when photographing each of the background samples? A brief test with consistent lighting and exposure is possible before the main session. Has anyone used a practical comparison process that works across several different complexions?
